Back to the Streets.
Our ministry calls itself, Back to the Street. We are brothers and sisters from all different backgrounds and experiences. We range in age from senior citizens to young adults, industrial workers to professionals, Illinois residence to Indiana Hoosiers. Whether we come together on a motorcycle or a trike or in a car, we all seek the same goal. We want to do our best to obey God and make a difference in our communities. We feel sometimes that means leaving the comfort of our churches and going into the streets. Luke 14:21 "Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame." We have faith that God will lead us down the street and on the sure path.

How we grew.
Back to the Street was an idea that took life in 1993, when Bob Roop started a jail ministry at Fountain County Jail in Indiana. While leading Bible study there, he became aware of a few inmates that would be spending Christmas there in the jail. He and his wife, and some friends, decided to give those inmates families a Christmas. With the help of the local grocery store, they delivered food, for a Christmas dinner, some new clothes and toys, for the children. That act grew into a full food pantry for Back to the Street. For seven years, from a house donated for their use, Back to the Street, passed out food to 250 to 300 families a month. Unfortunately, round 2000, rules and state regulations made it impossible to continue to operate the food pantry. While still helping those that they could, the food pantry had to close.

Today, Back to the Street, is very active with a jail ministry, an addiction class, hospital visits, church services in campgrounds, making stuffed bears to be passed out to children in hospitals, and playing bingo at 3 area nursing homes each month. We're a group that loves to be together, for most of us that also means riding motorcycles together, and we love even more, being together while also serving God.
